Writing three pages a day and committing to a date with your inner child every week.
Morning pages and artist’s dates. Those are the basic tools taught on the Artist’s Way.
Through the daily morning pages, you’ll get to check your thoughts and process your feelings. In your artist’s dates, you’ll become more aware of the synchronicities around you and get used to having fun. After some time, you’ll change the way you see life.
Writing the morning pages and going on the artist’s dates demands time, discipline, and will. When you incorporate those habits into your routine, many emotions will surface. Unresolved issues will pop up and you will find yourself questioning why you had even started doing all that in the first place. At times, it might feel like it’s too much to handle. But trust me if you’re feeling, it means you’re healing.
Being an artist is in anyone’s nature.
Children are artists, they create their worlds and narratives. They live in the present, laugh more, cry harder, show their emotions, and have no fear of being misinterpreted. They are good at expressing their needs, setting boundaries, and liking, or disliking anything.
The book taught me that the disconnect from our inner children translates into a disconnect from our ability to create, express ourselves, and be authentic.
The Artist’s Way doesn’t have to do with becoming an artist. It has to do with unblocking anything that keeps you from being who you truly are.
Creativity is a path to spirituality. The more creative you become, the closer to the creator you get, and life becomes a play.
I truly believe that life is a struggle when we allow the world to dictate our needs and aspirations. Also, when we fight against our nature and deny our feelings, needs, and dreams.
